predators

I see them in the shadows,
Bellies held close to the ground,
They both look ready to pounce.

Gleaming white, clean and cruel,
Like teeth waiting to tear flesh;
I shudder as I pass by.

After a girl is beaten,
The police cruisers only
Serve to protect each other.

(the only poem which is on both my blogs.. watershed of sorts)

Chicu,

I love this piece! Your descriptions in the first two sets of lines entices me forward with anxiety and a desperate want to put the final faces on the predators and the end caught me off guard and blew me away!

In my neighborhood, I have seen such and your poem shows it so well...

Have you posted this on Poets.org?
